Maps of Tassie

I was lucky enough to slip away last month (or was it the month before?) to Tassie with some lovely friends.  We stayed right on the harbour.   Fresh salty air, boats and seagulls. (talking, champagne, eating.......)

The Sea Shepherd was there - what a fantastic job they do!!!

I had some delicious (and cute) pots of chai at some groovy little cafes.

We went by ferry to the amazing MONA art gallery.  (Museum of Old and New Art).  What a wonder full  place.  Mona's owner David Walsh is a very interesting man (you can read about him here.)

We started our exploration of the gallery with a 'Mad Hatter's Tea party'.

We lounged around on pink bean bags with a bottle of red and a plough man's lunch after all the exertions of walking around the gallery.

Some cool street performers at the Salamanca markets.

Matching car and sandals!

The apartment where we stayed was above the Drunken Admiral.
All in all a lovely interlude!!

Hooray for a holiday at Hat Head

For Trisso's birthday we took him HatHead for a holiday.
(This was about 6 weeks ago.)
We stayed in a very cool holiday house with amazing views right up to South West Rocks.  At night you could see the lighthouse.

The water way behind the beach was beautiful - fantastic for snorkling.

Sunny and I sat in the rain with a pelican while the boys went snorkling.

Beautiful girl!

Nelson and Django did really well snorkling - it was Django's first time.
(Do you think the masks were on a bit tight?)

There is the holiday house.

More beautiful Pelicans.  I never get sick of seeing them.

We drove home via a beautiful valley out west of Kempsey.

Yellow Bird

Posted by PicasaI often find the best motivation for getting out the sewing machine is making a last minute birthday present.  These last minute makes are often the ones I like the best too!  This bag was inspired by the song 'Yellow Bird' - (from the movie The Sapphires) which the birthday girl and I have been singing lately.
 I hope she likes it!

Anais Nin on the Meaning of Life & The Dangers of the internet

"The secret of a full life is to live and relate to others as if they might not be there tomorrow, as if you might not be there tomorrow. It eliminates the vice of procrastination, the sin of postponement, failed communications, failed communions. This thought has made me more and more attentive to all encounters. meetings, introductions, which might contain the seed of depth that might be carelessly overlooked. This feeling has become a rarity, and rarer every day now that we have reached a hastier and more superficial rhythm, now that we believe we are in touch with a greater amount of people, more people, more countries. This is the illusion which might cheat us of being in touch deeply with the one breathing next to us. The dangerous time when mechanical voices, radios, telephones, take the place of human intimacies, and the concept of being in touch with millions brings a greater and greater poverty in intimacy and human vision."  Anais Nin May 1946

Instead of browsing and reading the on the internet and living in my brain I'd better go and play with Sunny!!!
Do the real rather than the abstract!!

Rock and Roll and Rain

We had a wild wet and windy night up here last night.  The river is up and we are flooded in but it is not as high as it was this time.  It is quite nice, we haven't had a flood in ages - the last one was nearly exactly one year ago.  I wonder what the water hole will be like? Hopefully all the slimy bits and weeds will have washed away.

I recently discovered Food Doodles - a food blog with healthy baked yummies.  The other day I made these and this morning  Sunny and I  cooked Wholewheat Oatmeal Choc Chip cookies, when they run out I am going to make Cosmic Cookies.

A bit of fancy dress to brighten up a dull day and some dancing to Django's 'Django loves rock'n'roll' CD , here are some of today's songs......
