Around here...

We got some new chickens a  few weeks ago and it is great to get at least two eggs a day.  Unfortunately we  have had some chicken disasters with fox (we think) attacks. It was the fluffy little silkies that were eaten again.  We don't have much luck with silkies, our first lot were eaten by a snake.   Oh well,  we have four beautiful robust hens left.

A large python shed its skin.

Sunny is hanging out her washing.  She loves to imitate and do everything i do.

 I have been making lime cordial....ready for coctails at my party!!

The boys have been hanging around in the hammock.  I still  haven't been up in the high one.  Trisso and I both gave each other hammocks for christmas.  How funny - great minds think alike!!

This is my one of my favourite foods at the moment - i just had it for lunch today - pasta, fresh tomato and basil, some black olives and feta cheese.  YUM.  Today is preschool day, i went for a bike ride -(it is so easy to ride a bike when you are not towing a trailer!!), did some gardening, picked the remaining eggplants to make an eggplant curry for dinner, made this pasta for lunch, I had a bit of a blog browse, came across this one  Homemade rainbows,  now i am writing this and eating Turkish delight. Next i am going to go and lay down somewhere and read 'Howard's End' before I have to collect Sunny and do the next round of afternoon things.   That is what I call a good day.

The Laughing Song

The Laughing Song by William Blake

When the green woods laugh with the voice of joy,
And the dimpling stream runs laughing by;
When the air does laugh with our merry wit,
And the green hill laughs with the noise of it;

when the meadows laugh with lively green,
And the grasshopper laughs in the merry scene,
When Mary and Susan and Emily
With their sweet round mouths sing "Ha, ha he!"

When the painted birds laugh in the shade,
Where our table with cherries and nuts is spread:
Come live, and be merry, and join with me,
To sing the sweet chorus of "Ha, ha, he!"

Today is a glorious day, the sun is shining, the music is dancy, green tomato chutney simmers on the stove, Sunny is dancing, the boys are playing with a magnet.  Life is good.....

Flyaway Katie

It is a grey and dreary day here today and I am feeling a bit like Flyway Katie.  I can't quite get into anything.

I love this book and so thougth i would share it with you.......

It is time to go and seize the day and do something......I have a few ideas - i might make some green tomato chutney (the weather is not being very cooperative in rippening up tomatos so I may as well use them green!) or I could make some clothes for Sunny's doll with her......

Naughty Forty

Last Wednesday I turned 40.  (Of course we forgot to take any photos, lucky Nelson and Django took some.)  I can't believe I am 40 already......it seems unreal that i could be that old!!

Simple Life

Hi again!  We have been without phone or internet for this past week and I must say it has been quite pleasant.  I often think I would have liked the pre phone era...  I often reflect on the computer and my love/hate relationship with it.  It is interesting how the internet has become such a central part of life.  Only two years ago I hardly ever used the computer - i would just check my emails every so often, then I discovered blogs (and now pinterest!) and the plethora of ideas out there.  It is too much sometimes, there is only so much one can do in a day and all these extra added ideas often make my head spin, not to mention the time wasted just looking and not doing.  However I do love it too, the easy access to all sorts of information, ideas, people, music, art, food, instructions..... I do love looking at and reading my favourite blogs and keeping in touch with my far away family and friends and when you live a slightly isolated life it is great to be connected to the big wide world.  Still it was nice to have a week with no computer or phone, just beautiful simple sunshiny days.
